"Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan" brings Salman Khan back in an action-packed avatar, accompanied by a storyline that revolves around family bonds and unforeseen twists. Directed by Farhad Samji, this film follows Bhaijaan (Salman Khan), who has devoted his life to taking care of his three younger brothers. The movie sets out to explore the complexities of this newfound relationship against the backdrop of Bhagya's mysterious and dark past.
Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan Movie Review
The film's plot is relatively thin, attempting to achieve a lot but ultimately falling short. Director Farhad Samji's story lacks logical coherence and normalcy, instead emphasizing bloody action sequences that often feel disconnected from the narrative. The first half of the film tests the audience's patience with attempts at humor that largely miss the mark. The exaggerated performances further hinder the film's overall impact. It is only after the interval that the story gains momentum.
The romantic tracks between the three brothers and their love interests, while banal and clichéd, manage to warm up as the film progresses. Unfortunately, Samji's screenplay becomes cluttered with too many characters, resulting in a lack of character development and an overwhelming narrative. The below-average soundtrack adds unnecessary length to the runtime, with forgettable songs overshadowing the film's other elements. One notable exception is the track "Naiyyo Lagda," composed by Himesh Reshammiya, which stands out. The background score, however, could have been less jarring, and tighter editing would have benefitted the film.
Salman Khan injects his trademark charm and charisma into the character of Bhaijaan, making him endearing to the audience. The actor's physical prowess shines through in the action sequences, solidifying his position as an action hero. His playful exchanges with his love interest provide some genuinely funny moments. The stylishly choreographed action sequences, featuring both Salman Khan and South superstar Venkatesh, redeem the film to some extent. Venkatesh delivers a strong performance as Gundamaneni, a family patriarch willing to go to any lengths to protect his loved ones. Pooja Hegde handles her meaty role with confidence, although some of her over-the-top antics could have been toned down. The remaining three heroines have limited screen time and minimal opportunities to showcase their talent. The performances by the male leads are below average and lack conviction, while Telugu actor Jagapathi Babu impresses among the villains.
"Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan" caters primarily to Salman Khan's dedicated fan base, offering a larger-than-life action experience filled with brutal violence and dramatic moments. However, the film's entertainment value is short-lived due to the presence of too many characters, an underwhelming soundtrack, and a weak screenplay that fails to match Salman's star power. Despite its limitations, fans can still relish watching Salman Khan in action as he takes on the villains throughout the film. And yes, there is that trademark jaw-dropping shirtless moment that fans eagerly anticipate.
