Soap Company Executive's Unconventional Stunt: Eating All-Natural Soap to Prove Its Purity

The chairman of a prominent Chinese cleansing product company has raised eyebrows and garnered attention across social media platforms with a viral video in which he took a bite out of a bar of all-natural soap. The stunt, though intended to underscore the product's natural ingredients, has left many amused and some even suggesting the soap could serve as a survival tool in natural disasters.

During an employee meeting, the boss of Hongwei, a renowned cleaning product manufacturer with a legacy dating back to 1952, embarked on a presentation about their laundry soap. He emphatically asserted that their soap contained no harmful substances, only alkali, animal fat, and milk. To drive his point home, the chairman picked up a bar of soap and proceeded to take a bite, concluding the act with a swig of water. While he aimed to be convincing, this marketing approach became a source of amusement for many, with some playfully suggesting the soap's potential lifesaving properties in a catastrophe.

The chairman confidently proclaimed, "There are no harmful substances. It tastes of cow and sheep fats and milk. There are no side effects. When it enters your body, it will break down body fat and oil."

Further elaborating, he emphasized that Hongwei soap was exclusively composed of cow and sheep fats, devoid of any gutter oil or additives like talc or whitening agent titanium dioxide. The company's official website corroborates this, confirming that the soap comprises only alkali, water, and cow or sheep fat.

For those who caught the mention of the soap breaking down fat when consumed, the chairman clarified, "We can't say it helps in weight loss, but it has the effect of breaking down fat and oil." A subtle distinction, but a crucial one—eating soap is unequivocally discouraged.

According to reports from NextShark, Hongwei proudly highlights that all its product ingredients are sourced from edible materials, aligning with its steadfast commitment to naturalness and purity. Nevertheless, the unequivocal message remains: soap is not meant for consumption, regardless of its natural composition.

The video of the soap-eating chairman was both ridiculed and praised by Weibo users, including one who said the chairman had put in lots of efforts, and that his resolve, hard work and bravery were vital for success.
